REPWBLIC'S 14 JULY BASTILLE DAY CELEBRATIONS AT CAFE ROUGE ON MERMAID QUAY, BAE CAERDYDD.

Be Great If This Became Much Needed Annual Event.

Dear Readers of Repwblic,

Repwblic does not usually use the junk mail facility - but on this occasion I am mailing everyone with an eye to the number of dead memberships that might be deleted out of the 400 that have accumulated over the years. So take this opportunity to respond ... this year is the 222nd anniversary of the Overthrow of the Bastille and on this occasion we have a deal with Cafe Rouge on Mermaid Quay, Cardiff Bay : each table with all four occupants ordering from the main a la carte menu can have a bottle of house wine ( red, white or rose according to your political inclinations ). Wine typically costs £15 a bottle at Cafe Rouge, and main meals are typically priced between £8 - £12. To take advantage of Cafe Rouge's generousity without abusing it, I would like you to RSVP to the phpBB's administration email address repwblic@hotmail.co.uk and I will email an flier to those who have expressed interest next week. Those who turn up without a flier can probably be accomodated however. As to what we might be doing this time around, well I planned some educative speeches but the general opinion seems to be that others would prefer me to hand out a leaflet and leave them to do some serious drinking, but that I can bring along some flags and offer the Attestation. I have recently come across a charming painting of the very first Bastille Day with La Fayette making his solemn oath beneath the first French Tricolore ( the red, white and blue of 1790 - 1794, when the colours were reversed ). With a bit of luck the weather will be fine and we can sit outside on the terrace by the fountain looking out across to Penarth Head. A selection from the menu was given in the calendar when I first gave notice of this event - http://repwblic.informe.com/viewtopic.php?t=4 - and if you do not know what Bastille Day is all about you could have a look at - http://repwblic.informe.com/viewtopic.php?t=441
